Today’s reading: Matthew 26:69-75, 27:1-14
“Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus said, "You have said so." But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate said to him, "Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?" But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.”
Matthew 27:11-14 ESV
Jesus is not a fancied myth. He is confirmed here by historical documents, arguably the documents with the most historical integrity of all time. This is history.
In this history, Jesus had one mission. It wasn’t to defend himself to a faux ruler. It wasn’t to get himself off the hook and to be free (yesterday’s reading). His mission was to die, then raise. His mission was one of rescue, for all the world.
I raise my hand as one of those who have been rescued and am being rescued. 🙋♂️
